Key Curriculum Dimensions

The ILSS Leadership Program curriculum is built upon 5 foundational dimensions of Social Sector Leadership.
These dimensions form the structure of the learning journey and underpin all programmatic conversations:

Developmental

Participants embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery, exploring their core motivations, recognising personal limitations, and learning to leverage their unique leadership style. Through enhanced self-awareness and intentional personal growth, they are empowered to reach their fullest potential.

Sectoral

Participants engage in in-depth explorations of diverse development fields including health, education, livelihoods, environmental sustainability, gender equality and intersectionality, disaster response, and civic development, among other critical areas.

Perspectival

Participants develop a nuanced understanding of the social sector's complexities by examining the interplay between local contexts, community structures, socioeconomic factors, caste dynamics, gender constructs, and cultural influences that shape the effectiveness of field interventions.

Functional

Participants develop essential competencies central to creating social impact, including strategic planning methodologies, resource mobilisation strategies, impact measurement using theory of change frameworks, data-driven decision making, and other core functional skills.

Organisational

Participants will explore and learn the fundamental principles of establishing, guiding, and sustaining effective social purpose organisations through practical insights, case studies, and wisdom shared by accomplished sector leaders.

Pedagogy

The ILSS Leadership Program pedagogy is designed to empower leaders with a learning experience that bridges theory and practice. Rooted in systems thinking, it emphasises interactive and participatory methods such as case-study-based learning, problem-solving exercises, and peer collaboration to address real-world challenges. Through expert-led sessions and action learning projects, participants apply concepts to their organisations, driving tangible impact.
